VLC Now with hardware acceleration

Postby Flibblebot » Wed Jun 23, 2010 6:04 am

In case you hadn't heard, the latest version of VLC now comes with GPU hardware acceleration. This means that it can now play BluRay movies without breaking a sweat.

The bad news is that acceleration is only available on Vista & Win 7 (no XP support :() and only support for nVidia graphics cards on Windows (due, according to VLC, to ATi's Windows drivers - ATi acceleration works fine under Linux).

I haven't tested it yet, but it means that we now have a free way of playing BluRays as well as DVDs =D>
