tablet pc to replace Airpanel

Postby kingdaddy » Fri Jun 07, 2013 4:49 pm

I have a Viewsonic Smart Display connected via RDP to my home computer that has a RS-232 connection to run some automated stuff. Is there any options for a tablet PC to replace this setup and still have the RS-232 connection on some kind of docking station or can a Tablet connect via RDP on the new operating systems like Windows 8? I can’t see a reason to buy a dedicated display to replace my Viewsonic Airpanel with today’s technology.

kingdaddy,

You could add an iPad or Android Tablet along with Splashtop Remote app for $4.99 to connect to your existing home computer.

Your scenes are most likely 4x3 aspect given you were using the Viewsonic...so going with the iPad may give you match your existing resolution. (1024x768)
I'm assuming your serial devices are connected to your home computer already. So nothing would change there.

So Splashtop is a Remote Desktop Application that streams info from one computer to anohter? If so this shouil work.

Anyone here using a Galaxy Note 10.1 for Cinemar Products?

Also is this posted in the right forum? If not can it be moved?

I'm using the Galaxy Tab 10.1 2 with the Android web app in my home.
