Dave,

Any thoughts around supporting the Amazon Fire TV and the Echo in the future ?

If they ever release a public API for those devices then a driver would be possible. It's all a function of Amazon letting us do it.

Just got my echo. It is a fun toy but not much else at present. However, it's voice recognition is very good. Plus you can communicate with it through an RF remote and through an app on your phone. Once an API becomes available this could be a very interesting input device. Even at list price it is a viable alternative to wiring microphones around the home and has the benefit of audio feedback.

As more of these devices get out into the public people are slowly reverse engineering the protocol. The speech recognition bits will be nice to crack as I want to add speech commands into the server. We're getting there.

So this is another way to go. Mimic the hue bridge and gain access to the echo. Here's how to set it up at least for the Vera, but maybe convertible to ml since it's just JavaScript.

I know that some folks on the homeseer forum have done this using the second technique and Homeseer 3. I haven't done it yet but it is on my list to try it out.

The Echo I was invited to purchase last January has arrived. There will be R&D efforts to see what we can make it do.

I just got an invite today for the Alex Skills kit - their SDK. Haven't checked it out yet but hopefully this represents an opening for integration.

My echo just arrived today! I'll see what I can make it do as well.
