Pre-movie trailers...

Postby EUROTECH » Sun Sep 16, 2012 9:31 pm

Is it possible to be done with what MainLobby currently offers, or can it be done at all.

Those of us that have a dedicated viewing room setup might like the option of viewing trailers or trivia prior to a movie. A trivia movie could easily be made and trailers and intros (DTS-HD, THX, etc) can be dropped in a specific folder. When we queue up a movie to play, ML can run trailers or trivia in a loop until everyone is ready to watch a movie, then with a press of a button, intros would play and then the movie starts. Just an idea for a more complete theater experience if at all possible. The thought came to me with how MPC-HC switches movies so amazingly fast, it could be used to its fullest.

It is possible. You would use MPC to queue up some trailers and then save it as a MPC playlist. Then you could just pass the playlist to MPC prior to the movie with repeat turned on.

Thank you sir, I will give it a whirl and see what comes of it. I wind up doing more butchering then good most of the time.

Playing the preview in the client would be interesting.
So when selecting a movie, you can view the trailer/preview.
Then launch the movie to the big screen.

The V4 sample scenes for the Mainlobby client and the Web clients both allow you to play the movie trailer on the client before watching the movie. Our movie database contains trailers for all the popular movies. When you add a movie using content manager it will grab the link to the trailer ID and when a trailer is available the Play Trailer button will be visible.

How exactly is this done on the client? Does the client need to send it via the agent to PowerDVD or equivalent playback software on the client's PC?

From a MainLobby client you would have to take advantage of the PlayTrailer command built into each movie entry. From the web clients you can play the trailer directly on the client using the built-in sample scene.
