I just connected my new hdx-1000 to my system, and downloaded the mlnmt plugin. There's lots of info on how to map to network drives, but I haven't found anything yet on how to map to the hdx's internal drive. I have a 500GB drive installed. This will eventually be a standalone unit, but for now I wanted to test the theater control stuff to see if I wanted to go that route for my next one.
Any thoughts on how to play a movie that's on the internal drive?
Update... figured out that I needed telnet installed. Have that installed and apparently communicating (I can telnet in). Still a little fuzzy on how to setup the aliases. I mapped a network drive (H:) on my server to the hdd in the hdx, but don't know how to setup the links. For what it's worth, I get a NMT1 has disconnected whenever I fire a pause command.

You cant (well you can but it doesnt work very well). You need to map an NFS share to the internal drive. NMT plugin only works with network shares.
