PlayPlaylist still there?

Postby simonmason » Tue Jan 15, 2013 6:37 pm

I am in the process of diagnosing some homeseer scripts in my ML4 conversion and apparently the following command doesn't appear to be working:

MLServeCmd.MLMusicLobby|1~PlayPlaylist~amy1 (amy1 being the name of a playlist)

I went into the command builder and I can't find PlayPlaylist. The command still shows in the wiki. Am I doing something else wrong? Thanks.

Nothing has changed in MusicLobby 3.75. The command is still valid. What is being logged?

It all appears to be working:

1/15/2013 9:55:59 PM MLProcess (1) [MLServeCmd.MLMusicLobby|1~Volume~100] from [Server]
1/15/2013 9:55:59 PM MLProcess (1) [MLServeCmd.MLMusicLobby|1~ClearNowPlaying] from [Server]
1/15/2013 9:55:59 PM MLProcess (1) [MLServeCmd.MLMusicLobby|1~SourceShuffle~On] from [Server]
1/15/2013 9:55:59 PM MLProcess (1) [MLServeCmd.MLMusicLobby|1~PlayPlaylist~amy1] from [Server]
1/15/2013 9:56:00 PM MLProcess (1) [MLServeCmd.MLMusicLobby|1~NextNowPlayingTrack] from [Server]

But nothing is loading all playing. If I go in and pick the playlist manually it plays fine. I realize that there is not much to go on here but I am not seeing anything in the log that would provide any explanations?

What does the MusicLobby event log show when the PlayPlaylist comes in?

I don't think it is showing anything? I see the commands below. Should I be seeing something else?

I am calling the command through a script so I tried setting up a homeseer event to make it easier to diagnose but I get the same thing. When I take the same command and issue it through the MLServer command option it works fine but I get the same thing in the logs. This worked fine with V3 server. However, I am still finding things that I didn't convert over or install in V4 so I am sure I did something to contribute to this issue!

1/16/2013 12:45:22 PM Pop [3] Server MLServeCmd.MLMusicLobby|1~PlayPlaylist~amy1
1/16/2013 12:45:22 PM MLProcess (1) [MLServeCmd.MLMusicLobby|1~PlayPlaylist~amy1] from [Server]
1/16/2013 12:45:22 PM MLProcess Exiting MLProcess

Simon,
Are you trying to play a playlist in V4 or V3? In V4 I have a different command that I send from Homeseer to MLServer to start a playlist.

MusicLobby|AppendPlaylistNext~5~1

Where the 5 is the playlist number assigned by MLServer.

I am using ML4. Thanks for the pointer. I think you are referring to:

MusicLobby|1~AddPlaylistNowPlayingNext~5

This worked! So why would PlayPlaylist not work from homeseer????

I don't know why it doesn't work, but the command I posted works for me as well.

Glad you got it to work.

To be fair I didn't try it. I went to te wiki to confirm and couldn't find it so I tried the other command. It is probably undocumented. I will give it a shot!

We are mixing V3 and V4 together here and that is not a good thing. There is no PlayPlaylist command in V4. If you are using MusicLobby 4 then that is why the command doesn't work.

I am confused. I thought I was using MusicLobby 3.75 (despite it saying 4 in the server apps) and I have been referring to the wiki for 3.75? Is the Command Builder the only reference for using a plugin?

Command builder is the only source of updated command syntax for all V4 apps and drivers and V3 compatible plugins.

Are you using the V4 MusicLobby App? Or are you using the legacy MLMusicLobby 3.75 plugin in MLServer 4?
Both will work but both have slightly different command structures.

I thought I was running 3.75, and somehow ended up with the V4 version. I wasn't accounting for the fact that the syntax had changed in V4. So, I kept checking the wiki and confusing myself further. I will stick with the Command Builder to update all of my scripts! Sorry about the confusion.

Is there no way to call a playlist by name (vs. id) in MusicLobby 4? Thanks.

Not at this time. I'll put it on the feature request list.
