Startup for MLMusicLobby Hangs

Postby jss » Sun Jul 18, 2010 2:20 pm

After a few years of not touching my ML install I'm doing some updates (yea it really is that stable).

I thought I'd give the new MusicLobby a try, but after installing MLMusicLobby, MLServer hangs with the splash screen saying "Loading... Startup for MLMusicLobby"

If I delete MLMusicLobby.dll then I can start MLServer again.

Any idea what's up?

(Yes, I've updated MLServer, Mainlobby, etc to the latest version)

Does your machine have a sound card in it?

Make sure that you have at least one recording device enabled and set as the default.

Just checked. Yes, I do have a recording device (the M Audio) selected and set as default.

Then I need to remote into your PC and see what setting is off. Set up LogMeIn and send me the information how to log in.

The issue was that older m-audio cards have a setting for the hardware that needs to be set to "Independent".

Close to the same issue although my MLServer doesn't abend (does go "Not Responding") it does take a very very very long time to load the MLMusicLobby plugin and then also a long time to start the plugin up. I have two audio cards as well and both the default playback and recording devices are set. I have all of the lastest drivers installed.

It takes time for the audio control to initialize the various zones and then during the startup phase there is a 3 second delay for each zone while a sample song is loaded so that the equalizer for that channel can be loaded. If you are using a earlier version than 3.75.219 then you will also see an additional 3 second delay per input. Version 3.75.219 has eliminated the inputs altogether and shortened the sample song. Make sure you are using .219 since it will take the least amount of time to start. It is normal to see MLServer go not responding while the control are initializing. This is not an error just a function of how Windows works.

Ok Thank you... I am using .219... I just wanted to make sure I didn't have a configuration error some where...

I seem to be experiencing a similar issue. Startup for MLMusicLobby Hangs, never completes. I've let it sit for hours and it never completes. MLServer 3.75.203, MLMusicLobby 3.75.219. This is a fresh install on Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. Computer has onboard SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio and an additional SoundBlaster X-FI Xtreme Audio card. If I disable MLMusiclobby, MlServer loads without issue.
I did not have any previous issues running the same hardware/MlServer setup on the Windows XP platform. MLMusic took some time but would load.

Any help would be appreciated

Check your default Windows sound device that it is setup. I suspect you have an issue created with the multiple sound cards.

Default sound values were already set. The onboard sound is the default and set to 2 spkr stereo. I use the Soundblaster card for SPDIF output to the receiver for movie playback. The onboard sound is used solely for Musiclobby playback. The recording default is set also.

I did some more trial and error testing. Wish there was a better way. Anyway, by disabling other plugins and leaving the Musiclobby plugin enabled, I was able to narrow the problem to a conflict with another plugin.
