ISSUES RESOLVED as per my edit notes - 1024 * 768 scenes ?

Postby AndreMan » Mon Jan 19, 2009 10:29 am

First, I was very happy to see a new PhotoLobby addition. This will be a great addition.

Sorry if this is a basic question but after I purchased it, I noticed that it comes with only the 800*480 scenes. All the scenes I'm using are the 1024*768 ones and thus my content folder points to my custom content folder with that resolution.

Can I still use the 800*480 scenes somehow? If I just copy them to my folder will they still work but simply at their disign resolution?

Thanks,

Andre

Andre,

We actually don't have any 800x480 scenes available yet. The 1024x768 scenes are available.

The scene to load is 0019_Media.Photos.mls

If that scene existed prior to install of MainLobby 3.00.151.75, you may need to opt to overwrite it when prompted.

Anyway, it looks great. I do see a few things that are not quite working for me but I can post that separately and you can remove this one I guess.

They are related to:

Folder button doesn't let me move to another shared folder. setup is correct, double checked.
EDIT: Okay, it seems I didn't copy the nav files to my content folder. The Folder button works great now.

Rotate button, either one, doesn't rotate my images
I'm not sure if the preview screen is working properly for me. When I select an image for preview, the attached is what I see.
EDIT: Preview is fine, my resolution is set at 1920*1080 so that's the problem with the view.
Rotate button works as well but permissions have to be set to modify / write as well as view.

Don't see a way to get back to thumbnail view after getting into preview.
EDIT: Sorry, I see now that you can simply click on the picture you are viewing to get back to the thumbnail view.

I'm very happy to see this though. Let me know what you think.

Thanks

Andre

Andre,

It looks like you resolved most of your issues. We did make a correction to the wiki regarding the 1024x768 path. We mistakenly noted it as 800x480.

The rotate button appears to be working on multiple tests on this end.

What do you see in the MLServer log when issuing the command?

What you are seeing in your image are remnants from some earlier testing while building the scenes. We are working up a release that removes these remnants. All scenes were designed for a 1024x768 screen. In your case, your screen is wider so you will see images that extend beyond 1024 pixels. You can set mainlobby to a display of 1024x768 if you'd like. Or modify the scenes to conform to your screen size.

Andre,

We've posted another update to MainLobby that has some newer scene files and has buttons to rotate clockwise or counter clockwise.

That's great, I'll try that now.

In case you're curious, this is what I was seeing with the files I have now.

I'll try the new ones though and let you know.

Does the user that is logged into the MainLobby client PC have enough rights to write to the folder where photo is stored? Error 7 is the GDi+ graphics engine trying to write the rotated image back to the folder.

I see you snuck in a .77 update as well. FYI - the version shows up in MLInstaller as .75 still but is fine when you install it.

In any case, I changed the permissions and it works fine now. I didn't realize you had to have write permission to do that. I guess I thought it wss a temporary viewing action but now it is working.

Thanks for the help.

The reason we write the rotated image back to the folder is that chances are you're always going to want to preview the image in its rotated state.
