netflix connector problem, canadian user

Postby qabpea » Tue Dec 07, 2010 1:54 pm

Hi

My netflix collector only manages to get 478 movies. I looked at the netflix.ca site and there are a lot more, in the thousands, movies available there.

I run NetflixCollector.exe /debug /log and the collector scans the site correctly and gathers all the entries.
The problem occurs when AddMovie is called for the catalog items.
AddMovie - Error at Line #1780 Path not found
I an not sure which path(s) it is that are not found, I checked the URL's that are printed and they are available.

Line 1780 is where is it trying to create a new sub-folder in the MLServer\Images\Netflix folder and it cannot create the folder. Is there any permissions issues there? Do you have a MLServer\Images\Netflix folder?

Yes and no... I had it in "ProgamFiles (x86)"/MLServer folder which is used when it is started from the server,
but not in the ProgramFile/MLServer folder which is used when running from the command shell....

That took care of the error, addMovie works, but the original problem is still there.
Why are only 477 movies found.
It looks like only a few movies from each "sortable list" page is selected.
The selection is stable, no changes between each try.

Anyway to see what is collected from each page.

If you are running on a 64bit OS then EVERYTHING must reside in the \Program Files (x86)\MLServer folder tree. Nothing should be in the \Program Files\MLServer folder. There shouldn't even be a \Program Files\MLServer folder on a 64 bit os PC.

Everything is in the (86) directory, it is only when I started the collector from the command shell it looked in the "program files" folder.
I added them and then it works fine when running it from the shell as well.

The result is the same though, the collector gets 477 movies either way.

Impossible to know why. Did it write anything to the log file? MLServer\Logs folder? If not I would have to remote in and look.

It only writes that it added X and retired X movies.
The last time X was 242

The values today have been 478, 230, 241, 132, 241

What is it that decides if something is added or not, makes no sence to me at all right now..

Just saw somthing, I only have movies that are rated NR, nothing else :-) any idea what can cause this?

Forget what I just wrote about only NR, that was only valid for 2010 and 2009

Every time it starts the collection process it first invalidates the entire collection. As it discovers the movies it either validates the existing movie or adds a new one. When the scan is complete it deletes all the invalidated movies. Hence the added / retired entry. I need to see your system.

I'd prefer you just send me your LogMeIn username and password and the access codes for the MLServer PC. you can always change the password after I'm done. Invites are one shot deals.

Netflix made another change to their website. I have updated the collector. Everyone needs to upgrade to the latest version of the plugin.
