Installation issues SOLVED

Postby yzpmpgq » Sat Oct 27, 2012 6:36 pm

So here's what I did:

- installed TED footprints for the TED1000
- plugged in the device and footprints works like it is suuposed to
- installed the TED1000 driver through the installation assistant
- restarted MLServer
- Went to the Family manager and added an item under "Energy" that shows the alias "Energy1", driver "TED1000", Model "TED1000" , Serial Port "COM3" (which is correct) and Description "TED"
- When I show the driver, it sows a device with ID 1, Alias "Energy1" and Port 80

But... there is nothing showing in the Driver log, the Energy screen and there are no "Energy" variables in MLServer. So what did I miss?

Update... this time I went to the driver log and it keeps showing "TimerUpdate - Error at TimerUpdate_Tick at line #558 - Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

So I added the hostname in the driver and now the log shows "Updater - Updating Energy1" - good, Device_DoWork... - good and then "ParseLiveXML - Error at ParseLiveXML at line #421 - Index was outside the bounds of the array.

I assume I'm still missing something?

The error means it is not getting the response back from the TED it was expecting. The driver queries the device directly on its web server. Using a browser what does http://<<TEDIPADDRESS>>/DASHBOARDDATA return?

It's a TED1000 on Com port 3. I don't think it would have an IP, would it? I tried netstat -a to see which port it was using so I could try it that way, but the results were:

Doesn't the Footprints software have a built in web server? I only have a TED5000 but I think with the 1000 that you have to have the footprints software running then you can grab the xml from its web server.

No, that is the xml that the driver expects to see. I will need to look at the server so that I can understand what is going on.

All set. For the Ted 1000 the Footprints software has to be running all the time with the logging service enabled.
