i cant say its typical, but it is by far more convenient. Brultech offers both serial and network interfaces. I use the network interface.

Does the Brultech ECM-1240 get the data from the transmitters via some Powerline Carrier protocol like the TED?? I have a TED 1000 and there are CFLs on the circuit the TED and the transmitters are on and the CFLs will sometimes cause the TED to not recieve the signals...

Brultech does not use PLC. THe network or wireless connection is made directly to the 1240 device which gathers the data.
Thanks!

Dave,
I should have my system up and running on Friday of next week. It will consist of the following.
2-1240
1-EP1 ethernet gateway
If you are still looking for a system to test on i would be glad to volunteer mine just let me know.
Not sure how good the EP1 will work but if i need to i can go straight serial to server with both units.
