Server Disconnects 1.0.1887.0

Postby AccessHA » Fri Apr 11, 2008 7:38 am

I’m running the latest release in a client/server configuration (1.0.1887.0 and 1.0.1440.0). So:

1) MLServer running MLiTunes server plugin
2) ML client running MLiTunes Service and iTunes

Every time I shut down and reboot the client PC, I lose connection with the MLServer iTunes service. Even with “Attempt reconnect on Disconnection” selected.

The only solution is to completely reboot MLServer every time this happens. Has anyone else encountered this?

I'm seeing something similar.
I had a crash on the server, not related to MLS, when it rebooted it could not connect to the iTunes services except for the localhost. The message in the service logs was client already connected. Shutting down the service ( had to use task manager to stop it as it would not exit all the way ) and restarting allowed it to reconnect but commands were not being executed, itunes controller show the command but itunes service does not, and no variables are updated in MLS.

Lastest controller and service 1.0.1887 and 1.0.1440

This happens on 3 separate clients (vista 32, vista 64, and XP). Is it possible that its router related? I’ve opened the ports on the router and disabled Windows firewall but that didn’t help.

Is anyone else running with a similar configuration? iTunes and MLiTunes service on client and MLServer just running the iTunes plugin.

Running MLItunes Service and iTunes on a client just isn’t working for me. Same results on three different machines running three different OS’s. I've turned off all software firewalls (only use the Windows firewall). I'm surprised no one else is having this issue. Maybe everyone is running the client on the same machine as MLServer?

Additionally, I can’t shut down Vista without first shutting down the MLitunes Service. If I force shutdown it corrupts the DB.

accessha,

Do you have the MLiTunes Service set to startup on windows boot? Just want to replicate your setup exactly.

Yes, it's set to load on boot.

On the server side I have 'Attempt to reconnect on disconnection' and 'Connect on Start' enabled.

thx

Hey Mario,

Still having the disconnect problem on reboot. Although the interface shows that it's connected to MLserver and the service is connected. Where you able to get this working on your end?

I'm now getting the follower error after a couple songs play:

Run-time error ‘5’:

accessHA,

We couldn't reproduce the problem you mentioned. We think we duplicated your environment.

Also, did you rebuild your database?

Try rebuilding, then capture the logs and send us them that shows what happens just before the error.

Yes, I've been doing a lot of DB rebuilding lately.

MLServer is giving the following error:

AccessHA,

Does the error occur always when you are trying to append an album?

We haven't been able to reproduce. Can you double check to make sure you are on all the latest versions too based upon what's in the CInemar Installation Assistant?

No, happens mostly when I reboot the MLiTunes Service.

Latest releases installed. Maybe it's time for an MLServer rebuild.

Was this ever resolved?

Any time I close the Itunes Service on a client or reboot that computer I loose connection with MLItunes Plugin (on a seperate machine). Need to Unload/Load MLItunes plugin to regain connection.

MLItunes Plugin = 1.0.13
MLItunes Service = 1.0.2058
Itunes = 7.6.19
MLS = 557

Mant Thanx

Wow, this is still an issue? I was just about to re-install the latest iTunes on my new MLServer until I read your post. Guess it's back to MusicLobby.
