VGA to TV converter

Postby Blade » Tue Jan 12, 2010 6:32 pm

What are people using to convert the VGA from their HTPC to a TV to show movies. I am looking for the best converter that will give me a composite output to my TV for playing movies on my HTPC.
What are the recommendations?

Bob,

I'm guessing you want Component Video (RGB) and not Composite Video (Single Cable).

If so, I believe Audio Authority sells a converter. Otherwise, your best bet is to have a graphics card that is already capable of outputing component video. Many of the GeForce and Radeon's support this feature.

Sometimes a breakout cable is required and supplied with the card.

I am looking for s-video or composite video.
I would even buy a new video that had it if there were some good ones.
If anyone is using one, please let me know

i use a radion 4660 i believe it is. It has hdmi, dvi and s video outputs. It works pretty well and it wasnt to expensive. Looks like you need to take a trip down newegg lane my friend.

start there.

also keep in mind most of the cards that have dvi come with a little adapter that goes from dvi to component. if yours doesnt come with it google search " dvi to component" It should be about 6 bucks. Terribly expensive, i know.
Hooked on HighDef

I actually just finished buying one from newegg about 2 minutes ago :)

I bought this one:

I hope it works with blu ray as well as DVDs. I think it will.
