I did some checking, found that 1025 is in use by the RPC handler between the outlook client box and my domain controllers.

Also found out that by default Windows will grab that port first if available....

What are the chances you could change the port?

helpful trobleshooting command c:>netstat -an will return a list of connections and ports used....

email works, calendar imported 7 days then stopped, phonebook stopped working.

Then I noticed you adjusted ports to 1015-1024....sorry, bad idea.

Many ports are spoken for as "well known" or "reserved", thus necessitating careful planning in which ports you choose. It may be sheer fortune that Cinemar has chosen available ports in the past, but in this case......you've hit another batch commonly in use by Windows, RPC, and other functions.

PORT NUMBERS

(last updated 2007-09-12)

The port numbers are divided into three ranges: the Well Known Ports,
the Registered Ports, and the Dynamic and/or Private Ports.

The Well Known Ports are those from 0 through 1023.

DCCP Well Known ports SHOULD NOT be used without IANA registration.
The registration procedure is defined in [RFC4340], Section 19.9.

The Registered Ports are those from 1024 through 49151

DCCP Registered ports SHOULD NOT be used without IANA registration.
The registration procedure is defined in [RFC4340], Section 19.9.

The Dynamic and/or Private Ports are those from 49152 through 65535

Also, here are logs from my setup with errors that appear to be why calendar stopped after 7 days, etc.

Chris:

We are working to find better range of ports. I am pretty new to port selection so I have turned it over to the experts.

As to your errors:
The calendar died because there was a illegal XML character passed in the string. Can you send me the detail of the events that it crashed on? I tried to trap most of the illegal characters but I must have missed one. Can you try removing uncommon characters in this event and see if gets past it?

Not sure why the other plugin stopped, it should not be impacted by this issue. What are the symptoms of the stoppage?

Thanks for helping us work through these isssue.

Tracy

that particular event is
private
recurring
has an alarm
uses the @ symbol in the title
uses the ( symbol in the title
uses the ) symbol in the title
uses the ' symbol in the title

emails process fine.

Phonebook just isn't working (guessing it's a bad port thing because it was working before)

Glad to help. It's fun, and we all benefit!
ChrisB

Not sure if this is related to the ports issue but none of my reminders are being processed. There is nothing in either the Addin Log on the client or the MLCalendar plugin log whem Outlook comes up with a reminder.

On another note, each time I reload the MLCalendar Plugin, the reminder options get cleared including the fire command.

Thanx

Looks like my reminders are being processed but I too have the same problem with reminder options getting cleard everytime plugin (or MLServer) reloads or restarts.

Is this another bug on the "fix list"?
