MLOutlook Public Beta

Postby DavidL » Wed Sep 05, 2007 10:48 am

MLOutlook is a suite of applications intended to expose Outlook managed Calendar, Email and Contact lists in MainLobby.

MLCalendar, MLEmail and MLPhoneBook have been in private beta for a long time. Since that beta, the application has been rewritten to address the wish list of the beta team. With those changes, we are now opening the beta to additional Cinemar customers. Feel free to download and install it. The installation includes sample scenes for the MainLobby Client PC, prebuilt MLCycleStates and Command Maps that get installed to MLServer for you.

We believe that MLOutlook applications will be just as popular as WeatherLobby to help start your family's day.

Outlook can be installed on one or several networked PCs, and their data is sent to the corresponding plugin through the included MLOutlookAddin. Setup is super easy as prebuilt scenes are included.

MLOutlook Addin v 3.0.79

The conduit from Outlook to the MLServer plugins.

MLCalendar v 3.0.239

With MLCalendar plugin, you can view your Outlook managed calendar. You can even create a new calendar entry from the MainLobby touchscreen using the included onscreen keyboard. Calendar entries can easily be deleted as well.

A sample main calendar scene is included and looks perfect with the MainLobby standard user interface. A Days Events detail screen is included, as well as a special scene for adding calendar entries.

The MLCalendar Plugin can be setup to trigger MLServeCmds when an appointment reminder is received from Outlook. This can be used to have the MLSpeak plugin (optional) read your event over your home's whole house audio system so you never forget to pick your kids up from soccer practice again!

Multiple calendars are supported.

MLEmail v 3.0.90

When Outlook receives an email, the MLOutlook Addin sends that to a MLServer database. Once there, a MainLobby scene can display your emails. The plugin can be configured to allow for paging through your emails.

MLEmail can be configured to send an MLServeCmd depending on the urgency of the message. This is great for providing audible or visual indication that an important email was just received.

Another neat feature of MLEmail is the ability on receipt of a special email subject line to process an MLServeCmd. This allows for control of your MainLobby system from anywhere that you have access to email. For security, a password is required.

MLPhoneBook v 3.0.381

Your current Outlook managed contact lists are now accessible via MainLobby! Add a picture or change a phone number in Outlook and be able to view your PhoneBook in the included MainLobby MLPhoneBook scene. Page up / down through your contacts, and view your contacts stored picture and contact information.

From a single screen in MainLobby, you'll be able to see what program is running and which zone. How much time is left and at what time the program will end. Just touch a Zone# or Alias and that zone turns on/off. Want to run a zone for 15 minutes without setting up a program or schedule? No problem, we've got you covered.

With MLPhoneBook, it is even possible to call someone in your PhoneBook when you have integrated the optional MLPhoneDialer plugin (compatible modem required).

Software Requirements:

MainLobby 3 v 3.0.85
MLServer 3 v 3.0.323
MLOutlook Addin
MLCalendar Plugin
MLEmail Plugin
MLPhoneBook Plugin
Outlook 2003, 2005 or 2007 (on any networked PC)

Another MLOutlook installer version is posted. Not sure this will install the necessary dependency files, but your error messages that you post should give us an idea on what is different between your systems and ours.

Make sure you unregister (with Windows and with Outlook) and delete all MLCalendar, MLPhonebook, MLEmail and their associated addins from earlier beta releases so we have a clean new install to work with.

Please provide comment if you have Microsoft Office installed (which version?) and if you installed Microsoft Access with your Office install.

Also post what OS you are running and which service pack level. You must be on XP SP2 and later.

dave, what error, what OS and service pack? Loading the plugin or the addin? Where are you seeing the error - mlserver / plugin / addin log?

thanx

Sorry, I should have read your initial request more carefully.

OS is xp pro and sp2 build # 2600

I originally had problems loading the add in with Office 2007, but that seems to have worked itself out in the last build. Prior, it would just crash office.

I get the following error when MLServer loads, or when I enable the MLEmail plugin.

SCGrid1
Error: -2147467259
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data Source Name Not Found and no default driver specified

I have the correct version of MDAC installed.

can you give me the DSN name and I will try to create the odbc connection manually and see if that helps? I currently do not have any user or system dsns on the machine

I also get this on MLServer start or enable of MLEmail plugin:
SCGrid1
Error: -2147467259
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data Source Name Not Found and no default driver specified

However E-mail, PhoneBook and Calenader functions all seem to be working properly with the exception of Contacts updates which produce the following in the MLPhone Log:

Error Type mismatch - (13) @line 160 in procedure LoadRegistry of SharedCode
XML Import Succeeded
deleted records

XP Pro SP2 - Server & Client
MLServer 3.0.323 - Server
MLCalendar Plugin 3.0.172 - Server
MLEmail Plugin 3.0.69 - Server
MLPhoneBook Plugin 3.0.307 -Server
Microsoft Office 2003 (Word,Excel,OutLook,Access) - Client
MLEmail Addin For Outlook 3.0.52 - Client

when I manually update the calendar plugin from the addin, I get the following in the log:

Error ActiveX component can't create object - (429) @line 20 in procedure ProcessXML of SharedCode
Error Object variable or With block variable not set - (91) @line 40 in procedure ProcessXML of SharedCode
Error Object variable or With block variable not set - (91) @line 50 in procedure ProcessXML of SharedCode
XML Import Succeeded
Error Object variable or With block variable not set - (91) @line 190 in procedure ProcessXML of SharedCode
Error Object variable or With block variable not set - (91) @line 200 in procedure ProcessXML of SharedCode

No events appear when using the sample screens.

The next version should correct these errors. Hopefully it will be posted later tonight.

Ok, the plugin now loads with success, but when I receive an email, i still get the following error in the log:

Client IP - 192.168.1.50
Provided Registration Information to the Addins - (9/10/2007 8:39:11 PM)
Error ActiveX component can't create object - (429) @line 20 in procedure ProcessXML of SharedCode
XML Import Succeeded
Server requested Client Update - (9/10/2007 8:42:37 PM)

Also, nothing ever shows up in the mail providers tab even though I have outlook open and the addin has found the mail server.
