DMR fails to get movies

Postby jlp-cinemar » Fri Mar 14, 2008 2:21 pm

I have just installed the new production releases for dvdlobby3.75, mldmr and the latest releases for mlserver, mainlobby and mlcx77es in a fresh install. the dvdlobby3.75 and mldmr and in 30 day evaluation mode. I then tried to perform a catalog on one of the dvds in one of my cx777es changers and I got the following error message in the mldmr log:

i searched the forum and found reference to network lag/latency for the lookupdvd error #5, but i did a tracert to the development address and the hops were all under 26 ms. any ideas one what the problem is? are there any new network settings for my firewall?

thanks

john

follow up on fails to get movies

Postby jlp-cinemar » Mon Mar 17, 2008 1:01 pm

ok, so I had some time to work on this problem and it was a combination of the firewall and antivirus that was preventing mldmr from communicating with its server.

I did find what I think may be a few anomalies. Several times I had to ask MLDmr to get movies multiple times before it would correctly identify the dvd in the cx777es. Looking at the log it seemed to say it was trying to identify the dvd by TOC and then on a second try by ID. Also once or twice it seemed to take an excessively long time to bring up the dvd image - maybe as long as a minute.

Does this make sense? Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

John

Responses usually come back from AMG pretty quickly. It is an Internet query so Internet issues can affect performance. Also, the MLDMR plugin is configured to return a maximum of 25 hits in the search results. If AMG sends back a large data packet then that can have a impact on speed. Finally, the DVDLobby plugin tries to find the best cover art for a particular title. If it doesn't like the cover art that it gets from AMG it will look elsewhere. This too can have an impact on speed since it can involve additional web queries.

I am unable to get any movie searches to complete. Any ideas?
