Help understanding how to use USBIR6 with TVLobby

Postby jackpod » Tue Dec 12, 2006 12:26 pm

Could someone help me get started with using the USBIR6 with TVLobby. TVLobby shows a sample Repeat:MLUSBIR6|SendIR~HDTV~<<channeldigit>>

So would that mean I would need to have a command something like MLServecmd.macro|MLTVLobby!MLUSBIR6|SendIR~HDTV~<<channeldigit>>
and then learn the HDTV codes? How would MLUSBIR6 understand <<Channeldigit>> or does that mean each channel would have to be created and a macro built for each channel?

The <<channel digit 1>>(syntax not accurate here) would be a placeholder for the usually numeric value like 0 through 9. In the USBIR6, you just learn a number 1 press of the remote control and call it "1" as the devices learned command. So, when the TV channel is 002 to switch when you hit the Watch button, whatever you learned as 0 will be sent, then another zero, and then a one.

well that was actually quite painless.
Repeat:MLUSBIR6|SendIR~HDTV~<<ChannelDigit>> works as it is, now how would I go about putting a wildcard in place of HDTV so I can have multiple satelite receivers?

I wasn't clear in what I wanted to do. I have an HDTV device (which is a Samsung TS160) and I have another device called Sat2 (RCA RG480) in TVLobby watch command I have
Repeat:MLUSBIR6|SendIR~HDTV~<<ChannelDigit>>

what I would like to do is be able to switch between
Repeat:MLUSBIR6|SendIR~HDTV~<<ChannelDigit>> and
Repeat:MLUSBIR6|SendIR~Sat2~<<ChannelDigit>>

so I can select channels from TVLobby from 2 different satelite receivers.

jackpod,

If i understand your problem, this is a fairly easy one.

Create two buttons on your TVLobby interface or on the screen just before you enter TVLobby.

On the first button (HDTV) put the following in the MLServeCmd:
MLServeCmd.SetVariable|controlDevice~HDTV

On the second button (Sat2) put the following in the MLServeCmd:
MLServeCmd.SetVariable|controlDevice~Sat2

Then for your TVLobby watch command:
Repeat:MLUSBIR6|SendIR~{{controlDevice}}~<<ChannelDigit>>

Setting variables can be your friend. Get to know and love 'em. :)
