Extension for IR Learn Cable

Postby MurrayW » Thu Dec 27, 2007 10:42 am

I am finally going to get a USBIR6 and move my USB-UIRT to my HTPC for use with MLBeyondTV. I am hoping to be able to re-use most of my USB-UIRT codes but either now or in the future I will need to learn new codes.

Reading up on the USBIR6, it sounds like the "learn"cable is very short and only reaches to the front of the PC. My MLServer PC is tucked away in a server closet and is not real easy to get to, so when I learn codes I want to be able to sit in my living room (other side of the wall from the server closet -- I need a cable that is about 8 ft long).

1. Is the learn cable a mono or stereo cable?
2. And am I correct in assuming that I can just attach either a mono or stereo 3.5mm extension cable to the IR learn cable to make it long enough to reach into my living room?

Thanks, I want to make sure I order all the correct parts now instead of later.

Hi Murray,
The IR Learn, and IR Receive are stereo minijacks. You probably could use a standard headphone minijack extension cord to move the Learn (and also the Receive) outside of the PC cabinet.

Thanx for the order. Going out today.
