MLGenericDevice Devices

Postby DavidL » Sat Oct 21, 2006 10:31 pm

MLGenericDevice plugin now supports export / import of devices. This is provided to allow Cinemar to share device files with end users, as well as users to share with other users.

Please use this thread to post ONLY the device files. Create a new thread for discussion on your new device file. Discussion posts will be deleted to keep this thread clean and easy for users to find device files.

The next post should be used as a model for your device file. Copy / Paste the text from the model and use it for yours. Attach a zip of the export command and response files.

Post one Device per post please for easier searching.

Feel free to add documentation for the device driver in the Cinemar Documentation Wiki. See the example for a sample path.

NOTICE: 3rd party device drivers should be used at your risk as they are not tested or certified by Cinemar to be reliable, not to contain a computer virus or other possible issues.

Smooth; What is the correct location now for Generic De
vice Files?? Are they now accessable through the installer? Where should they be uploaded to?
Thanks!

The MLGenericDevices that Cinemar has experience with are downloadable via MLInstaller. (get used to that answer :) )

If users are sharing device files, feel free to post on this thread using the recommended post style above.

OK so back to my real question; You previously uploaded (1/16/08 ) a few files of a driver for Xantech that were available under the old system. They are now not any place to be found in the downloader. If they are their, then there is no indication that they are in fact in the required ZIP format for import. I am asuming that you would not package these with an installer. I am also asuming that you would not use the MLxxx naming convention.
Thanks!

Dave....

On MLinstaller section
Drivers - Addon software and hardware interfaces

items 9b,c,d,e,f,g appear to be the drivers for various Xantech, Weedtech Pioneer, devices for use with MLGD. They do have a $ sign next to them. I successfully downloaded the Pioneer ElitePlasma but it is an exe.

hth....

Not too many folks seem to be sharing their MLGD work....

I have a partiall complete setup for a Xantech ZPR68 that I have openly shared.....but it lacks slider volume control.

ChrisB, DaveB
The .exe versions are installers that can auto install the zip file in the correct directory via MLInstaller's process. MLInstaller doesn't know what to do with a zip file.

So for example,

MLGD_PioneerElitePlasma50_Device_Setup.exe
installs
Pioneer_Elite_50.Zip
into the MLServer\Data directory.
MLGenericDevice plugin then can Import a file from that directory and auto unzips the files appropriately for use.

There is a MLGD_XantechZPR68_Device_Setup.exe
and a MLGD_XantechMR88_Device_Setup.exe
Xantech files available via MLInstaller.

I am hoping that more users will be using MLGD and sharing of device files once it is in production.

If Cinemar gets good feedback from users that a contributed device file works well, then we will wrap an installer around it and make it available via MLInstaller for ease of installation. As we develop device drivers, surely they too will be added (like several of the ones already in there).

Please move all discussion off of this thread, that was intended only for device sharing. Thnx
