ChrisB, you upgraded too quick. We aren't ready yet. You should be able to regress.

Xantech in GenericDevice

Postby cborod » Thu Jul 05, 2007 11:12 am

I've been running a GenDev setup for my Xantech ZPR68 but controlling volume in a good way has always evaded me.

Now that you've added an MRC8x8 I'd like to experiment but cannot figure out the import process.....sorry it's been awhile. I added the device, gave it an alias that matches the xml files for the MRC but no go...

no import occurs for output or return commands....

Read and re-read the instructions, the wiki.....but am still clueless...anybody with a nudge in the right direction?

Hi Crhis,

Not sure if this helps but I seem to remember from whenever the beta expired that you needed to import 3 separate files. One for the device set up, one for the Commands and one for the queries.

I will double check when I get back to my ML system but I think I remember stumbling across that at least twice

I just about finished my MRC config and have promised to post on the forum. Need to add some documentation since the MRC gets complex when adjusting vol, bass, treble, etc. between music-playing volume and then speech volume and then back again.

Rick

With the MLGD release candidate, Exporting and Importing of device files is Piece O Cake (at least we think so :) ).

Anxious to try it when you're ready to make it available. Without a doubt, this plugin (ebven in beta form) has been one of the best accomplishments of the year (imho)

Yes, please make sure and wait to export/import the commands until the new version is released. Also, make sure and dont overwrite your existing database during the install process.

It's all set but I'll wait until the new version of MLGD is out. Don't want anyone taking my head off when they've lost their existing device configurations  Too bad there's no headless Emoticon!!!

TCP/IP to RS232

Postby dcrera » Tue Jul 17, 2007 12:08 am

Hi,

Newer hardware have serial comms over ethernet.

Are you allowing for sending serial data either to a comm port / ip address ?

Thanks

Not at this point. But it can probably be added if you can give me some specifics of the device. Currently the plugin does allow a global cache device to be used.

TCP/IP to RS232

Postby dcrera » Tue Jul 17, 2007 1:32 am

Hi,

I have a home automation system that has a Universal Communication Module that has a Tibbo device.

For more on how this works look at http://www.tibbo.com/

I use the MLGenericSerial plugin which only communicates with a direct comm port.

The work around for this is to use a piece of software called Serial Port Redirector see http://www.serial-port-redirector.com/

This maps a comm port to an ip address.

If MlGenericDevice can use either a Comm Port or IP address, that will really be a full replacement for MLGenericSerial and others.

Thanks
