MLGenericDevice broken again ~

Postby cborod » Fri Feb 15, 2008 4:33 am

I just installed MGeneric device v 3.0.427 via MLInstaller from the
4) Drivers - Addon software and hardware interfaces section.

Even though I have what my install shows as a permanent license
.......and have paid for two advanced clients......

my installation is now non-functional with the following log entry

ERROR: The BETA has expired.
Error 380(Invalid property value) @ Line 120 in procedure vaTabPro1_TabActivate of frmMain

Attempts to revert to previous versions were unsuccessful

Respectfully requesting a fix......

My distributed audio systems are now offline until this is resolved.
ChrisB

Also, MLInstaller shows v. 3.0.414.0. Looks like last update didn't make it to the Installer.

Guys, see if you can find 3.0.430 which is supposedly in the updater...

I've checked several times today and the only thing that is there is .414. Maybe MLInstaller expired too.

You should be seeing at least 427. Make sure your running the updater from MLServer. Also, make sure your running the latest MLServer. If you saw the sticky that I've been replying on, they say the update is posted, but I sure can't find it. Really annoying as now my remotes and my touchsreen don't work, I might have to actually get up now :-)

OK, I give up.

I check my MLInstaller version, 1.0.32 which is the newest.
I check MLServer version. I'm running 3.0.425. Woops, need to go to .427.
MLInstaller says the current version of MLServer is 3.0.421 dated 1/19. Hmmm? Maybe there's a new version of MLInstaller with the same name as the old version.
So I check the MLServer forum and it says to download the latest "here". This gives me the MLInstaller update which I install again. Still at 1.0.32.
The newest MLInstaller, the same one I had before, shows my version of MLServer to be .425 and the current version as .421 and MLGenericDevice as .414.

So I'm stuck in a version loop with none of the drivers showing the real latest version.

Are you going to MLServer, then the help menu, then 'additional software downloads'? Going that route, I see the latest files. If you run MLInstaller stand alone, I see the old files your mentioning.

Or Click on Tools->Update Product List to update it.

Mine shows 3.0.428 as the current & installed version of MLServer.
And 3.0.416 for MLGenericDevice.

Of course the update file could be bad again....

Hmm. I clicked on download and my local version changed to 3.0.430.

Either someone needs to update the update file, or it is corrupted again.

Ricks,
It sounds like you are not updating the content of MLInstaller.

MLInstaller ships with a default content that as soon as it ships is dated.

When MLInstaller is installed, and launched, the content should then be updated (assuming the PC it is installed on is connected to the Internet - and Cinemar's server is up and running - good odds as it's new)

It is also a good idea to update the content manually by launching MLInstaller and then clicking on Tools \ Update. A couple of seconds later, and the content (file names, dates, and links) should then locally be updated.

Now, if you want MLInstaller to update every time it is launched, then just change the Windows shortcut to launch
MLInstaller.exe /update

This and more are covered in the WIKI

http://www.cinemaronlineforums.com/wiki ... _Installer

We will shortly be shutting down the older ftp server as we are now using a new, much faster, higher load capability server to keep up with our new user demands. This will mean that older versions of MLServer will not see any updates.

So, for all - please update to the latest version of MLServer3.

deanb2, MLGenericDevice was updated to 430 today.

I just checked again, and version 430 is showing now, but it was not listed earlier in the day after it was stated that it was posted. Not sure, but it appears there was some lag somewhere with the update.

Actually, I just found one of the issues that the update file was corrupt. Fixing that is what allowed MLInstaller to process the updates.

So, most of you aren't going crazy :)

So I figured it was time for a break... baked stuffed scallops over fusilli, fresh bread, virgin olive oil and a nice glass of wine. When I came back, everything was magically there. :D

Now here I was thinking it was my wife's cooking that fixed the problem. I was going to have her cook her specialty tomorrow and see if it fixed the MLHAI plugin!

Turns out it was David.

Actually, I always do download from MLInstaller inside MLS and always hit Update Product List first.

Rick
