Possible with MLWMI

Postby sonypoolplr » Tue Feb 13, 2007 8:05 am

I saw this posted on the Homeseer site:

hibernate / wake timer....??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anybody ever heard of a computer timer that will put the pc into hibernation at a specified time and wake by itself at a specified time?

Such as: At midnite everynight, pc turns itself completely off (or hibernates), then at 6pm, pc automatically comes back on.

My wife is complaining about computer fan noise while she sleeps. I don't want to have to manually turn pc off at night, then get up and walk over to pc in the morning to turn it on.

And I was wondering if this plugin would be able to accomplish this? If so, what would be needed?

Thanks.

Yes, that is what MLWMI is capable of doing. The automation events is controlled by MLServer 3 (or possibly Homeseer). The MLWMI plugin then forwards the request to the client PC that is running the MLWMIClient.exe application.

You should try it to see if it will work with your particular hardware. Most PCs work fine, some do not.

I am having a problem with the WMI plugin. After it puts the computer to sleep it creates a second instance of the computer in the plugin after which the computer will not respond to further WMI commands. I posted this in the forum a week or so ago, but don't have a response yet.

I know of others that have the same issue.

The double client entry thing is fixed, adding a new feature to MLWMI that might take a little bit more for this release.
