How to determine if a client is running?

Postby dmcvie » Mon Jan 22, 2007 9:01 pm

I'm trying to determine if a client is running so I can toggle a start/shutdown command - or at least show the current status of any machine on the network.

Is there an existing WMI variable (CPU?) that could be used for this?

I see others have asked similar questions, but no responses - it this not possible?

Thanks

Dave

Dave,

MLServer should automatically create a variable for client connection.

Look for example:
myClient1_connectionstatus = online or offline

Yes, that is a good way to determine if a client is alive.

But, the original poster might also want to know if a PC (not necessarily a connected client) is running or not.

But, if the PC does have MainLobby running, then Mario's method would work.

Thanks Mario, Smoothtlk is correct also, I have some cleints that run ML, but I have one that is only running the MLWMI client.

Is there a variable that I can check to see if an MLWMI client is connected - something like the MLWMI plugin does when it shows in the "current connections" tab?
