My system has not had catastrophic crash since installing test version, I am not currently running dvdlobby, or xmlobby, and have not processed any other serial cammands while running test. I have seen similar behavior as jmantas noted above?
Perhaps serial problems would be fixed with tcp/ip ethernet.
I do believe that the biggest problem I was seeing are eliminated by not populating mlhai server variables. Have not had a mlserver hang running test yet. Sounds like you may have more than one failure mode.

MLHAI Crash

Postby Raj » Wed Dec 06, 2006 12:30 am

Hi ChrisB,

The Test MLHAI DLL that you are using right now does not create or update MLHAI variables on the MLServer. It just does the polling.

When you compare this DLL with the previous one, which does polling and creating and updating variables, Do you see any difference in the frequency of crash? Based on your posts, the Test MLHAI dll runs fine for approx. 6 to 7 hours before crashing. How abt the previous one?
Did it run fine this many hours or it crashed in a very short period of time?
Were both crashing in a same manner or it was different?

Please answer these questions, which will help us to drill down the problem.

Thanks
Raj

MLHAI Crash

Postby Raj » Wed Dec 06, 2006 12:53 am

Hello ChrisB,

I made some code changes in MLHAI and I have attached herewith a new DLL. The file in the attachment is a zip file. The zip file contains the MLHAI.dll. This DLL also does not create or update MLHAI variables on the MLServer. It will just do the HAI polling. I just wanted to eliminate a possibility for the issues with MLServer crash or hang.

Please let us know the outcome of the test results.

Thanks
Raj

run server

MLHAI Crash

Postby Raj » Thu Dec 07, 2006 1:52 pm

Hi smoothtlk,

We need to make sure that MLHAI does the polling without any crash. Then we will go to the next step. Let ChrisB run the server with MLHAI with other plugins for an extended period of time.

Thanks
Raj

still running.....

When I ask, it logs that it is obtaining system status.....

however, when I asked it to retrieve the system log it returned an empty file.....which is an "error" because I know there are events in that log....

So....., am i getting a false positive or is the plugin really getting something?

Regardless......it has been runnung crash free for just about a whole day!

Where do we go from here?
ChrisB

MLHAI Crash

Postby Raj » Thu Dec 07, 2006 11:03 pm

Hi ChrisB,

Let us assume that the change I made in MLHAI Test Plugin fixed the MLServer hang issue that you noticed in your setup.

So, I have enabled SetVariable post in MLHAI and I have attached herewith latest MLHAI.dll as a zip file. When you run the server with this updated DLL, you will see MLHAI variables in MLServer.

Please let the plugin do the polling for a while. If it does not crash, you can try to execute some MLServe commands for MLHAI.

Let us know your findings.

Thanks
Raj

The new plug-in is loaded and running but doesn't seem to do anything.

It is not creating variables
I cannot access the settings dialog
I can access the registration dialog
