HAI_Area1_SecurityMode not updating

Postby WadeL » Sat Aug 08, 2009 1:57 pm

I can successfully turn the alarm to Day/Away/Night/Off...etc and the keypad reflects the correct state of the commands issued. However the server variable never changes. Am I missing something? I have waited as long as 5 minutes for the variable to update. I am I correct in presuming that MLHAI|001~Security~Day~1~**** will cause a change in this variable?

Regards

MLHAI|001~Security~Day~1~**** is the correct command to place the panel in Armed Day Mode. When in Armed Day Mode, you should see the variable hai_area1_securitymode change to Day after the next panel update. Panel update frequency is controlled by your setting in the agent for poll status (seconds). Make sure you are initialized correctly, and the panel is being polled by the agent.
Thanks!

I poll status every 2 seconds. I know this is pretty frequent. However, I only poll status nothing else. I don't care about messages at this point. I plan to setup manual polls later. So, it doesn't update, however if I restart the agent it does update.

Also, If I run MLHAI|001~Request_System_Status it does update as well if I run initialize_polling but does not update during its normal cycle.

Slow it down to poll events every 10 seconds ; Status every 6 seconds and log every 0 seconds. Restart the agent and watch the events tab for a bit. If you get "Failed to Connect" errors after about 10 min., then you have found the bug in this version. Most are having the same issue. Communication just stops after between 20 min. and an hour.

Several of us have gotten around this issue by using the MLScript and a timer in MLScheduler to fire the script; MLScheduler runs this script on an hourly basis. My panel updates for about 50 min. then stops for no good reason.

HAI Agent Kill

Code: Select all

Option Explicit
Dim objWMIService, objProcess, colProcess
Dim strComputer, strProcessKill
strComputer = "."
strProcessKill = "'MLHAI Agent.exe'"

Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
& "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" _
& strComputer & "\root\cimv2")

Set colProcess = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("Select * from Win32_Process Where Name = " & strProcessKill )
For Each objProcess in colProcess
objProcess.Terminate()
Next
' WSCript.Echo "Just killed process " & strProcessKill _
' & " on " & strComputer
' WScript.Quit

Then This; HAI Agent Restart

Code: Select all

' StartProcessLocal.vbs
' Free example VBScript to start a process (not interactive)
' Author Guy Thomas http://computerperformance.co.uk/
' Version 1.8 - December 2005
' -------------------------------------------------------'
Option Explicit
Dim objWMIService, objProcess, objCalc
Dim strShell, objProgram, strComputer, strExe

strComputer = "."
strExe = "C:\Program Files\MLServer\Agents\MLHAI Agent.exe"

' Connect to WMI
set objWMIService = getobject("winmgmts://"_
& strComputer & "/root/cimv2")

' Obtain the Win32_Process class of object.
Set objProcess = objWMIService.Get("Win32_Process")
Set objProgram = objProcess.Methods_( _
"Create").InParameters.SpawnInstance_
objProgram.CommandLine = strExe

' Execute the program now at the command line.
Set strShell = objWMIService.ExecMethod( _
"Win32_Process", "Create", objProgram)

' WScript.echo "Created: " & strExe & " on " & strComputer
' WSCript.Quit

' End of free example of a Process VBScript
Thanks!

Changing interval made no difference. I did notice that when the polling command queue processes I do not see a tasking for Request_System_Status. I am seeing some serial port timeouts. However, the agent does not appear to be loosing connection and I do see temp/zone updates in near RT.

I'm not really convinced this is the same issue you and others are seeing. When I added a timer to get system status I was able to get the update as desired.

Thanks for all the help, by the way.

I think I finally experienced the timout issues you mentioned. Any idea if this is on the radar for being fixed? Having to kill and restart is not really an ideal option in the long term.

I hope so - it seems to keep getting bumped lower on the list.
Thanks!

DaveB,
Have you tried increrasing the serial port speed? Just wondering if it's timing out due to the speed at which the data is coming from controller? Also, is there a performance or security difference between the RJ-45 serial port on the base module of the Omni II and the DB-9 serial port on the add on card?

I have tried all combinations available including TCP communication. I think that it is a buffer over run at the panel end due to the method used in retrieving the data from the panel. After the over run, the panel simply says I have had enough.
Thanks!
