DVDLobby 3.90.x Questions

Postby CinemarDave » Sat Dec 19, 2009 7:36 pm

Show of hands. How many people will be upset if the next version of DVDLobby

1) Drops support for the old DVDLobby 3.5 SWF files. That is the original DVDLobby 3.0 and 3.5 pro swf files?
2) Removes the "On Selection" and "On Play" server variables?

Don't ask what is being added here. Suffice to say there is a lot. I'm interested in knowing if some of this legacy baggage can be removed.

I never switched off the 'original'. WHich I assume is the 3.0 SWF's. More than willing to change to the new format - its something I have been meaning to get around to. 2 questions:

I have a remote friendly version for TV use (DVDLobby3_tv). I need to still have a version I can manipulate via remote.
Also - If I havnt moved from 3,0 SWF to 3.5 yet I assume I should wait for this change and just do it once? If so, what is the approx timimng of the release? Ie is it weeks or months out?

Thanks

Frank

Frank,

Yes - this is the version that Dave is referring to.

DVDLobby Version 3.90 will still have remote support and then some. Lot's of new features that will blow away the version you are currently using. All graphics have been designed at 1920 x 1080 - so it looks SHARP on the big screen! I would recommend holding off at the moment...we're just buttoning up a few things and doing final testing. Hopefully you'll see something before the end of the year or early next month.

I like the sound of you guys moving in the direction of having 1920 x 1080 screens as an option. Will 1920 x 1080 screens eventually be available as part of the Gallery Designer Library? I've been holding off purchasing for this feature.

I'm sure Margaret will be able to come up with some slick looking Gallery designs that will blend well.

Library 0026 and Library 0028 DVDLobby 3.90 1920x1080 scenes have already been designed and look pretty slick. They will be made available on the same day that DVDLobby 3.90 is released.

DVDLobby 3.90 will introduce support for multi-disc sets. The challenge is to make adding them easy.

Sounds good :)

Will the DVDProfiler import be sped up.
When doing a DVDProfiler import it brings ML to its knees.

I doubt the DVDProfiler import will run any faster. There is a lot of processing involved. One of the goals of 3.90 is to eliminate the need for anyone to use third party tools.

What do you mean by third party tools?

Are you saying that we do not need to use DVDProfiler anymore? I really like DVDProfiler.
I really wish the import did not really slow down ML.

Third party tools = DVDProfiler etc... You can still use them. It will still take the same amount of processing. I'm just saying that 3.90 will have new features that will lessen the need to use 3rd party tools.

I look forward to checking that out then.
When will it be released?

Dave, is it possible for you to add the DVDProfiler import processing to the Worker thread?

Dave,
Are you considering adding the DVDProfiler import to the MLWorker threads so it does not slowdown MLServer? I know you mentioned in a previous post a while back that you had planned to do this. I just want to know if it is coming because that would be a huge addition for me considering how often I import my movies.
Thx

It is being considered. I am more interested in knowing what feature(s) DVDLobby is lacking that makes you have to use DVDProfiler.
